I’m too smart for my own good
- We’re sorry to hear you feel that way! Lots of people question this about themselves at one point or another- am I too smart, am I not smart enough, I wish I didn’t actually understand what’s going on here, etc.
- Are you able to take a step back and evaluate this for yourself? You may feel that way about a particular situation, or maybe even several, but do you believe in the long run that it hurts you?
- What are the benefits about having the intellect that you do? In what ways has it helped you as well?
Help Yourself
- You can’t change how smart you are! But you can take a look at why you feel the way you do and evaluate what you can change that will help you stop feeling that way.
- Do you have anyone in your life that you feel you could talk about this with? Parents, counselors, another trusted adult? It often helps to verbalize these feelings and have someone to redirect things back to you for clarity.
- If you need a daily reminder of how awesome you are- we have a “Positive Self Talk” resource in our Tools segment of Teen Central that may help you feel a bit more positive about yourself.
- We’re very sorry you feel the way you do. Be proud of how smart you are!
