These pills are like destroying me and this therapeutic foster home is a horror fest its not helping I hate my life wish I was never born. I’m alone I’m numb and depressed. My life has been a lie all my life. Plz if there is any way I can text a hotline on my computer please tell me.

Ways to Help Yourself:

  • Hello reader, it sounds like you are dealing with a really difficult time right now and feeling lonely numb and depressed. Thank you for having the courage and trusting the TeenCentral community with your story.
  • Yes, there are hotlines you can reach out to when you are feeling like you want to cut yourself or thoughts of wanting to die. First, there is the Crisis Text Line, you can text “HOME” to 741741. Second, is the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Both are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Please don’t hesitate to text or visit their websites when you feel you need to talk to someone, they are there to help. You can also look out or HELP tab which is filled with hotlines that you can also access on the computer. I have also included the suicide hotline which you can access via phone or by computer.
  • You mentioned the medications you are taking isn’t helping you. Have you spoken to someone about that? Mabe your physiatrist or therapist? Sometimes talking to someone about how you’re feeling on the medication can prompt a discussion.
  • You also mentioned the therapeutic foster home isn’t helping, that must be tough. Do you have someone you can vent to, maybe a friend outside the foster home or even at school? Having someone to talk to about what you are feeling can help lighten the pressure of feeling all alone with no one to support you. Sometimes, simply voicing your thoughts, feelings and frustrations can help you feel better.

Consider This:

  • Here on TeenCentral under the “Learn” tab we have literature on Depression and Suicide, check it out by clicking on the links if you feel like reading more about it. It also gives you signs and symptoms and things to look out for.
  • There are many things you can try to help cope with your thoughts and feelings. Consider some of these ideas:
    • Journaling – writing down your thoughts and feelings can help put things into perspective. It’s also a good way to put into words the things you may not feel like you can say out loud. Some journal prompts are – pros and cons list or support plan.
    • Hobbies/Interest – are there things you like or enjoy doing that can help ease your mind? It can be anything from listening to music, to going for a walk or talking to a friend.
    • Under the “Tool” tab there are activities that can help with what you are feeling in the moment and ways to cope if you want to check out some other options.
  • Lastly, consider our Positive Self Talk Statements and Positive Reminder Card, it may help bring some light on a dark day.
